Sondra Ray remains one of my most influential teachers
through her books, seminars, spiritual retreats, and
introducing me to breathwork almost twenty years ago. I
heard Sondra speak in early 1990. I remember her
 saying
that every year she takes a small group to an ashram in
northern India; I remembcyer
feeling the pulse to be on that journey. The
evolutionary impulse that lives in us all was awakened big time, and life continues to be an amazing
journey. While in India with Sondra, Babaji's teachings
of truth, service, simplicity and love were planted
deeply in our hearts, and the beautiful energy of the
Divine Mother permeated us. I've returned to India again
with Sondra, each time deepening the love that connects
us all in oneness… Sondra's trainings and books have
helped me create empowering, loving relationships that
feed my purpose in life. Her contribution to making
rebirthing or conscious breathwork a known experience
for thousands has no doubt added to the transformation
we are witnessing on our planet now. Breathwork remains
a powerful modality I use in my work, giving predictable
access to non-ordinary states of mind and body, where
receptivity to spirit, intuition and healing are
experienced. I cannot imagine what my life would be
without this knowlege and use of breathwork… Sondra has
gifted us the Divine Feminine energy through her work
for decades, and now with Mark, her husband, and in the
powerful energy of The Great Hall where we will be
gathered, I anticipate a magical dance of divine
polarities to benefit us on levels we can't
imagine. That evolutionary impulse is gaining speed and
momentum... the train is boarding.... Sondra's back! …

When meeting Sondra years ago, I was delighted to find a
format that incorporated the best of both
Eastern influences and Western practicality. My own
background included having been initiated by Guru
Maharaji (Prem Rawat) five years earlier, and having
participated actively in the EST training experience for
two years prior to meeting Sondra. I welcomed the
balance and integration Sondra offered. Sondra
presented her work with relationships in a manner
joyful, relaxing, innovative, healing, and most
entertaining! It was not work. It was marvelous
fun! Having put my shoulder to the yoke of a spiritual
path, I had yet to find a way to integrate those
experiences in my everyday life. Now, 20+ years later, I
have wonderful and genuine relationships with my wife,
my two beautiful teenage children, my parents, my
siblings, and a very close core of caring friends.
Sondra was a remarkable catalyst for my continued growth
with her books, trainings, and breathwork. I am most
excited to be able to assist with hosting her return to
Houston for what I am sure will be another remarkable

My first experience of Sondra was at an LRT in Houston
in 1982 at the now-gone Shamrock Hot el.
There was an audible gasp as she strode to the front of
the room – a gorgeous stately woman dressed in a swingy
white skirt, tall high heels, gold blouse and a
sparkling gold scarf covering her head (her hair still
very short from a recent trip to India). She was such a
striking presence! That workshop, also led by Bob Mandel
and two “trainees” - John Gray and Barbara DeAngelis,
now both famous for their own work with relationships –
was a life changing weekend. Sondra’s compassion and
gentleness, while still being so powerful and direct,
impressed me greatly. The breathwork session released me
from patterns of thought and behavior that I hadn’t even
realized were running me. Sondra’s influence in my life
has been so great – her trainings, books, workshops!
I’ve continued with breathwork over these 20+ years and
use affirmations on a daily basis, frequently quoting
Sondra - “Love brings up anything unlike itself for the
purpose of healing and release!” – and other gems that
bring truth into my heart and give guidance to me and

About the Event
I read I Deserve Love in the late 70's, at a time
when I was feeling unattractive, befuddled and
distraught.
Taking
Sondra's message to heart, within a short time a
powerful, loving community of conscious breathers
supported me, saying yes to my being and soul. This
community of folks was led at the time by Frieda Fox,
who is once again bringing Sondra back to Houston, as
she did then, changing my life forever. Wow, to go from
feeling isolated and alone to being mentored by Sondra
Ray - a vivacious and gregarious woman full of fire,
enthusiasm and compassion for drawing out the essential
self within us all - was the greatest gift I could be
given. It’s a delight that she continues to share her
gifts with us now. I've been with Sondra in a variety of
contexts over 30 years, from one day classes to week
long intensives. She is a catalyst and change agent for

 Sondra
Ray has been an important teacher to me over the past 30
years. One memory that arises was in Minneapolis, one
New Year’s weekend in the early 80’s. Sondra was in town
for a workshop; I was there visiting parents and
friends. Weather stranded Sondra, and I arranged for
both of us to stay at a friend’s apartment. It became a
personal mini intensive. I am forever grateful to her
for helping me to see some issues related to
relationships that I may never have seen otherwise. We,
the community, also had the good fortune to spend New
Year’s Eve with Sondra. There was a fun party, and at
midnight, Sondra rose to the occasion, took command of
the group and asked us all to recite affirmations aloud
together to affirm a great and prosperous New Year for
all. Sondra enriched the fun with deeper, more lasting
meaning. I am thankful for Sondra as a teacher, mentor
and role model, and always a catalyst for change and

I remember the moment in a bookstore in Berkeley when I
came across Sondra’s first book, I Deserve Love.
U ntil
that moment, I had no idea we can influence our life and
results, even our emotions, by choosing and empowering
our thoughts. I had a Master’s degree and two years
toward a Ph.D., and I had never heard this simple truth.
I approach most things with a grain of critique so I
immediately put this new theory to a test. I began
writing affirmations, starting with those in the book,
and noted my amazing results. Then life led me to
experience rebirthing. Although I loved yoga and tai
chi, this way of breathing was completely different,
immensely freeing and transformative. I let go of
patterns that had been invisible to me. I became a
breathwork practitioner and helped bring Sondra and
other magnificent trainers to Houston for many sessions
of the LRT. I eventually enjoyed working in public
television, financial services, corporate teambuilding
and health through nutrition. I never felt a desire to
join Sondra in her exotic treks. I just became more of
myself, more connected with the Infinite, more able to
serve others, and more conscious of the many layers of
truth in every moment. Personally, I’m ready for another
dose and looking forward to enjoying another level in my

It was just amazing to be with the Production Team at
our recent meeting! It’s a
great group. Bill Gray is as
funny as ever, and Bruce is his same cute and innocent
self. Vincent is just as beautiful as he was 25 years
ago. And all the women on the team are wonderful. I look

The Production Team meetings
seem like mini-seminar-breathing events, heralding that
the workshop itself will be phenomenal… I notice how the
sharing is always true and on target. I get a special
feeling from each one from what he and she reveals. I
feel a spirit of innocence is protecting us, and I am at
the edge of my seat to see what strain of emotion or
energy is coming next. Now is one of those mini
tsunamis that can launch a new generation of energy that
we will need for the next few years of creativity and
survival. The group rebirths, I believe are like the
Texas A&M bonfires,
which have a larger than life correspondence to our
needs. Our gathering to produce this workshop has made
me realize the importance of a family of like minded
explorers. We don't have time to sit back and judge, we
only have time to merge with the source as it arrives. I
believe that this is such a time.
The energy is building...and the inspiration with

On my trip to India with
Sondra Ray, I shaved my head and let all of my blond
hair float down the
Ganges River. What a freeing experience! The trip was
way beyond my wildest expectations. We rebirthed every
other day and they were all incredible releases. I am

first of May for the Live, Love, Flourish workshop.
